Head Toppers for Fall 2016 Fashion

Hi Friends,

I've been under the weather lately but feeling better and needed to get back to my friends out there. I found this picture on the internet:

Have you ever felt like flying up, up and away? Taking off and feeling the air hitting your face and your hair blowing in the air?

This is how I've felt lately! But I have decided to place each day in the hands of God. I know He will help me through my down days, no matter what is making me feel dysfunctional.

Enough of downers! Here are some hats that were on the internet for the 2016 Fall Fashion:

You can dress them up or wear them casually.

You can find me on the following sites:

Lazy Ride - What Do You Think?

Hello Friends,

I saw this while driving around town the other day. I was laughing so hard when I saw this and knew I wanted to share with you my, friends.

Nothing like a lazy ride down the road!
Looks like the cat is quite at ease laying on the front of the motorcycle.
What do you think?

Hope this picture brings a chuckle. Have a great day.

Stimulating - Energizing - Fashion Styles

Hi Friends,

I was reading some stimulating fashion articles on the Internet and was energized by the following three items:

The blazer is in again as a wardrobe staple. Do you own a blazer? Stop reading and go shopping NOW and purchase one! The double breasted blazer is a more advanced version of the standard single buttoned one. Do you want a 4.0 look - then go and get that double breasted blazer. A girl can always use a blazer.

Are you still carrying around that large, tattered canvas tote or a faux leather bag? No more - if  you want a - I Got This Look! Get charged up and splurge on yourself for a real leather bag with a cross body strap in a pop of color.

Don't want that rocker or groupie look? Then pair this energizing leather bomber jacket with a knee length dress and high boots, silk pants with low heels, a maxi skirt with ankle boots  or with a scarf wrapped around your neck. It is all in how you style it! Go for the clean lines look not the vintage look.

Here are a few of my artisan jewelry creations that would go great with your new stimulating fashion styles. They can all be viewed at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com for further details.

I hope you enjoyed this posting.

Really - Recipe for Toast?

Hi Friends,

I found this recipe on the Internet and thought you would have a good time reading it. Of course, I shortened the article to just include the recipe, along with a picture of The Perfect Toast.

According to the article, we love our toast. For breakfast, reseachers say 71% of us that eat bread like it warm and toasted. So if that many of us are going to eat toast, we need to make it Perfect!

In fact, a research food team spent a whole week toasting and tasting slices of bread. The team came up with this recipe for The Perfect Toast:

*Start with pale, seeded bread that has been refrigerated at a temperature of 37.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

*Get a ruler to measure the thickness of your bread that should be 14mm or 0.551181 inches.

*You need to have a stopwatch so you can toast your bread for 216 seconds. Your toast will be golden-brown with a balanced external crunch and an internal softness.

*When you remove The Perfect Toast, add your butter right away. Got a scale? The best amount of butter is 0.44 grams per square inch. Get that ruler again! Measure that the butter is 1/17 inch of thickness of the bread. Got this done? PERFECT!!

*Stop reading! Hurry up and get your toast cut on the diagonal. Not sure why except that the research team recipe said so.

*Serve your toast on a plate that is warmed to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure it is not any hotter or toast will continue to cook and ruin The Perfect

* Enjoy your PERFECT TOAST!!

I hope you enjoyed this article.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Make Your Escape With Me

Good Morning Friends,

I am having a hard time watching the news lately and my "liking" on social media has been more of  pulling the covers over my head action. Lately, I've been finding some peace and joy by escaping to watch my favorite HGTV shows: such as "Flip or Flop"; "Flea Market Flip"; and "Property Brothers." One or all of them are on everyday as I work on my jewelry blings or do housework. These shows help me to escape into my dream world.

Of course my favorite way of escape is going into my jewelry creation world. There are times when I just want to loose myself into the fun and creative world in my jewelry work area where I hear the sounds of other creations being made in the background on the television.

What other happiness is there than doing what you love to do? Come and make your escape with me by looking at my latest jewelry bling:

Fall 2016 Colors

Hi Friends,

Today is going to be a lazy day around this household which hopefully will allow me to do catch-up with e-mails and blogs. I am going to post the Pantone 2016 Fall Fashion Color Trend report that I found on-line:

Here is a list of the 10 Pantone Fall Fashion Color Trends for 2016:

2016 Fall Fashion Color Trends

Hi Friends,

According to my searches, one of the 2016 Fall Fashion Color Trends is:

Sharkskin is any shade of gray and can be combined with any bright or muted color. See this picture from 9to5Chic which combines a straight variegated gray skirt, white blouse, a light gray long jacket and a mustard purse:

Since mustard is also a 2016 Fall Fashion Color, in my opinion here is a turquoise and mustard bracelet set from The Beaded Pathway that would go wonderfully with this outfit. You can see details for this spicy boho set at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com. Like it, buy it and save 10% off now with coupon - mademyday10.

Life's Five W's

Hi Friends,

The first thing I have to do when I get out of bed in the morning is take a pill for my osteopenia. This pill needs to be taken on a empty stomach with a full glass of water and 30 minutes before I can have anything else including COFFEE! UGH!

So I had to find something to do for 30 minutes in my quiet time before the rest of the household awakens. I wanted something to keep me relaxed and peaceful.

Then one day cleaning out my forever emails, I found a solicitation to register for Oprah & Deepak's 21-Day Meditation Experience, Getting Unstuck: Creating a Limitless Life. Each meditation is approximately 20 minutes long and there is a thought for the day and a mantra.

These meditations are very soothing, relaxing and peaceful. They get my day started in a calming atmosphere. I feel refreshed after listening.

I wanted to share The 5 W's of Life with you. I hope you enjoy.

Have a great day,
Sue

Where Does The Day Go?

Hi Friends,

Keeping track of the days of the week has been a big quest for me since retirement. With having my husband retired, I can't keep track on the days of the week with him home every day. Not just on Saturday and Sunday. I find it amazing that such a small change has sent me on a tail spin.

Even looking at the calendar I can't figure it out without knowing the date. Now I hope that a special occasion is indicated on the calendar to use as a starting point whether forward or backward. Either way, the days go by TOO FAST!

Really, I thought retirement was going to have more hours in the day/week without rushing about getting ready for work and driving one and half hours to and from work every day. But no, every day is just flying by. Even my husband comments about where has the day gone. Time just needs to sloooow down!

I have found some time to post at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com this stunningly unique, one of a kind, handmade, artisan jewelry creation: Black Oval Pendant Necklace. Go to The Beaded Pathway to view the details.

Bucket List-What's On Yours?

Hi Friends,

When I was texting with my brother the other day, he mentioned that he and his wife were at Niagara Falls. Excited, I texted back that Niagara Falls was on my bucket list. He sent me a picture:

Wow, I can almost here/feel the power of the Falls just looking at the picture. Can you? What beautiful sights of nature we have in America.

Do you have a bucket list? What's on it?

Have a great day,
Sue

Raindrop Cake or Not?

Hi Friends,

So excited, my Brass Chandelier jewelry creation was featured in the Jewelry Making Journal. Click here to see http://jewelrymakingjournal.com/brass-chandelier-turquoise-crystals-necklace/ .

Yesterday, I rode with my husband to the park to meet with Kevin and get information on the Senior Softball League. While my husband talked with the men and watched a few innings of a game, I was bored and decided to read some blogs on Bloglovin'. I follow craftsy.com blog and found this recipe for the famous Raindrop Cake, which is not a cake!?

Raindrop cake but not? It is derived from a Japanese dessert called mizu shingen mocha with the main ingredient being: Agar, which is a gelling agent made from seaweed. It is vegan, zero calories, fat free, zero carbs and fiber a plenty.

Raindrop cakes look and feel like jello just not as firm but delicate. The taste is like sweetened water and smooshes into water once but in your mouth.

To make:
  • use a silicone mold or small shallow bowls to form the semi-circle raindrop shape, preferably, or any other desired shape
  • always dissolve agar completely before adding sugar
  • 2 cups spring water
  • 1/2 teaspoon agar powder or flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
-Boil water; add agar; remove from heat; stir until agar is dissolved.
-Add sugar; stir until dissolved.
-Liquid should be completely clear.
-Pour mixture into molds.
-Let sit for 15 minutes at room temperature before adding mix-ins: such as sprinkles, chopped fruit like strawberry or mango, mint, or use your combination of fruits or sprinkles.
-Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog. If you enjoyed what you read, I would love having you as a follower so add your e-mail address in the box on the top at the right.

Have a great day,

Road Trip To Orlando

Hi Friends,

Happy Friday! I hope you have some awesome plans for this weekend. Are you going to have a BBQ, planned a pool party, or just going to stay in the cool inside?

Trip:

The day after The Pulse night club killings in Orlando, FL, my husband and I took a road trip to visit family that were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando. As we listened to the radio on the way up, we were worried about what we might encounter once we actually entered the vicinity of downtown Orlando.

When we stopped at a Service Plaza on the FL Turnpike, I was amazed at how many people stopped, watched the news on the television and were amazed at what had and was happening in Orlando. I thought to myself, "aren't they listening to the radio in the car and hearing about the killings?" Then I laughed to myself thinking probably not with the use of phones for texting friends, playing games, listening to music and DVRs for watching videos.

As we got close to the Hard Rock Hotel, my husband and I almost simultaneously mentioned that The Pulse was probably only 15 minutes from where we are and you wouldn't know anything was happening downtown.

Very sad. Keeping all the families in my prayers.

Once we connected with our family, we had some lunch in the hotel restaurant that was delicious then sat around the pool watching the kids swim until dinner time. Not being beach lovers, my husband and I do not own swimsuits!

While everyone was getting ready to go to Emeril's Orlando for dinner, my husband and I enjoyed the air conditioned lobby and played our Word game on our phones.

Here are some pictures after taking the water taxi to the island for dinner:

Dinner was mouth-watering and service was very good.

Have a great weekend. I will have new jewelry creations next week. So come on back y'all!

Happy Retirement

Hi Friends,

My blogging has been a little here and there lately and wanted to let you know why. My husband has decided to retire and things are getting turned around here at home. Starting Monday, he will be on vacation until July 30th which is his actual retirement date.

You see in July, I will be retired for one year and have gotten into a regimen of creating jewelry, blogging, watering the orchids and housecleaning.

Even the dogs have gotten into a daily routine i.e., sleeping, then eating breakfast, going outside for a while then coming in to sleep on and off until General Hospital comes on the television and they know Pops (my husband) will be home soon and go outside and wait for him. They will be a little mixed up starting Monday with Pops home all the time.

Now that my husband will be retiring everything will be changing a lot, he doesn't like to sit around and he doesn't have any hobbies to occupy himself with but he has talked about getting his Rawlings softball glove re-strung and trying to get on a seniors team.

I would love to have Pops involved with my jewelry but he is not interested. He is good at photography so I mentioned to him about taking my jewelry pictures and my answer was "we'll see". He patiently goes bead shopping or goes to bead shows with me but that is about it.

When I was talking to a cousin yesterday, they said, "You have to compromise. Today you do what he wants, tomorrow he does what you want. The housework will get done eventually." Sounds easy but I don't know. Maybe I am worrying over nothing.

I know God will help me through all of this. He is on the Throne working on my behalf. So I will get up each day with passion, expectancy and look forward to the great things God has in store for me.

DIY Summer Bling

Hi Friends,

While riding in the car, I was searching around a new app I downloaded, Bloglovin', and came upon a new website, www.thecraftedlife.com. Look what I found for some easy summer bling:

We all probably have a pair of cheap, plain sunglasses sitting around the house to have some fun with this DIY project. Supplies needed cheap sunglasses, glitter nail polish, wasabi tape.

First, find those cheap, plain sunglasses. Come on rummage through those drawers!
Second, get your glitter nail polish.
Three, bring out the wasabi tape (personally, I think blue painter's tape will work just as well).

Now, put a piece of tape across each eye piece of the sunglasses to see how high/low you want the glitter to go and then polish away.

Let dry then head on down to the beach with your bling on!

Enjoy! Give me a shout back to let me know how it went.

Have a great day,

Sue

Turning A Negative Into A Positive

Hi Friends,

Things have been very busy around our house lately with painting and fixing things up. So I haven't had a chance to do any blogging.

Inspiration
Lately I've been reading an inspirational book by Joel Osteen called Break Out!. Here is a paragraph that grabbed me:

Do you keep doing the same old thing over and over and think it is right but with no results?

This paragraph had me contemplating about all the negative thoughts I keep thinking about over and over instead of thinking with a POSITIVE attitude. If you start to think negative thoughts about a situation, take a deep breath and ask God to guide you through it. I think of God as a BIG bear where he takes me in His arms and shows me the way. When you realize He has turned your negative to a positive promise, give God a BIG thank you.

Summer 2016 Fashion Trends

Hi Friends,

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend. My husband and I had a nice relaxing one but we did do this in our front yard:

FASHION

I was reading one of my e-mails from Beading Daily regarding what colors and fashion trends will be circulating this summer. Some fashion hits that were on the runways were: lace, satin and loose fitting fabrics. The color trends popping up were rose blush, yellow and turquoise, along with metallics.

Here is a picture of some of the fashion trends to come that I found on a blog, zanita.com.au, that I follow:

Notice the loose fitting clothes, the satin and the colors rose blush, yellow and turquoise? Love those turquoise heels-OMG!!

NEW FROM THE BEADED PATHWAY:

I am one of those designers that creates whatever comes to mind instead of focusing on the trends and colors. I never liked following the crowd, always a "do it my way" individual. Here is my new lightweight and empowering bracelet:

Think Father's Day! Click here: etsy.com/listing/398410469/cross-silver-hammered-gun-metal-rolo?ref=shop_home_feat_1 to see the details for this bracelet.

Follow my blog by adding your e-mail address in the box at the top right and use this special coupon code, BLOG2016, for 10% off my Cross Bracelet or any artisan jewelry creation at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com. Tell your friends to follow and you all can have fun shopping!

Thank you for reading. I would love to hear from you, my friends, so please leave a comment below.

Things for Better Skin

Hi Friends,

I found a new blog www.becauseimaddicted.net with a great article on better skin care. As follows the blog posted 7 things to eat and drink for better skin:

Avocados: they contain healthy fats, Vitamins A and C, and fiber that all help to enhance complexion and to fight aging skin.

Leafy Greens (spinach, kale, arugula): all contain Vitamin C that helps to prevent signs of aging. They also are one of the best sources of lutein and zeaxanthin that absorb and neutralize the free radicals made by UV light.

Pumpkin Seeds: these are high in zinc that helps maintain collagen and promotes skin renewal.

Blueberries: a great source of key antioxidants that have anti-aging perks and are high in skin toning Vitamins A and C.

Wild Salmon: one of the best sources of Omeda-3 fatty acids that keeps your skin supple and moisturized.

Green Tea: this drink contains antioxidants (EGCG) that help with blood flow and oxygenates the skin.

Water: H2O hydrates the skin making it appear plump and less wrinkled.

Do you have any favorite notions for your skin care?

Click on over to www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com to see the details for this swinging earring bundle for $14.99:
