Sweat, Ocean Water, Perfume

Good Morning,

I saw this Instagram post by keystonejewels.etsy.com that I thought would be great for my blog:

Sweat, ocean water, and perfume are the top three things that will ruin your jewelry. You should take your jewelry off and keep it away from these three elements to prevent the finish on your jewelry from discoloring.

Do you think about your jewelry when going about your day?

Personally, I don't often think about my jewelry when outside working in the yard, taking the grandkids to the beach or putting on perfume. I just go about my business as usual but this post has given me more awareness into what goes into tarnishing my jewelry.

After creating an artisan jewelry piece, I place the handmade piece in a plastic bag along with a non-tarnish repellent tab. When selling a piece of jewelry, I tell the customer to keep their one of a kind piece of jewelry in the plastic bag with the tab, if possible.

Well, I worked yesterday on repairing/re-doing my friend's three bracelets. One of the bracelets had one round bead that was not useable since the two connector holes were broken so I had to use some imagination to complete the bracelet. Here are before and after pictures:

My grandson has placed a request for a bracelet he found on YouTube so that is going to be today's creative dream.

Helping a Friend

Good Morning,

I received an e-mail from a friend of mine asking if I could repair some of her stretchy bracelets that she broke. She was going to bring the bracelets to the craft show that I recently worked but at the last moment she wasn't able to attend. So she decided to mail the bracelets by USPS. Here is a picture of how I received the bracelets:

Outside of package                                                    Wrapping on bracelets inside package

Very disappointed in USPS. Of course I e-mailed my friends these pictures, asking how many bracelets are suppose to be inside and how many were broken. Other than the damaged packaging, all the bracelets were inside.

So I will start to work on the three stretchy bracelets today.

Normal ??

Good Morning,

Time to get back to normal (?) now that the craft show is over. Since the venue took place about an hour from where I live my husband and I had to leave home around 5am. For vendors, the doors opened at 6:30am for setting up with the craft show starting at 8am.

I learned a couple of ideas for future shows:
- Before show or during down time, walk around, introduce myself and give out a business card.
- Set up tables parallel, across from each other, having our chairs toward the back between the tables.

Also, I learned that if you sign up for a school show be prepared for everyone knowing the teachers and most of the vendors will more than likely be teachers selling their creations.

All in all, sales were not as good as I had hoped but I learned a good lesson.

It's A Dog's Life

Good Morning,

Well, I'm working to get everything together for my display at this Saturday's McNab Elementary School Craft Show in Broward County, FL. I got my earrings listed and price tagged. Today will be bracelets. Nothing like waiting to the last minute to get everything together. Once everything is ready, I am going to setup a tryout display table, then take a picture for Saturday so I have an idea of where everything goes.

Thank goodness for cell phone pictures and ipad pictures. As people purchase an artisan jewelry creation, I hope to take a picture with the individual (with permission to post of course). Also, I am running a contest to win one of my artisan jewelry creations, just trying to figure out which item to use for the contest. I have the entry forms printed out and ready for completion with customer's name and e-mail address, with permission to add to my contact list.

One day last week, my dogs were staying outside which is unusual for them on hot days. They usually like being inside with the air conditioning and laying around. So I thought I would go and investigate what was occupying there curiosity since my younger dog, Sissy, has a habit of killing squirrels and Tee staying guard. Then I have the job of cleaning up their mess! UGH!!

But this time, they had a raccoon stuck up in one of our pine trees. I prayed that the coon would stay there until night time at which time our dogs would be in the house and the coon could come down and get the hell out of here. And that is what happened! Whew, I thought I would have to clean up some raccoon. It's a dog's life as Luke Bryan sings: Hunting, Fishing and Loving Everyday.

With Mother's Day on May 8th, click here www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com to use my new coupon - MomsDay - that expires May 1, 2016 - for 10% off any artisan jewelry creation in my gallery, The Beaded Pathway. As always FREE SHIPPING.

Getting Ready for Craft Show

Good Afternoon,

Well, I am a little crazy with getting things ready for the McNab Elemenary Craft Show on April 23, 2016 in Broward County, FL. I have been looking on Pinterest and Instagram for ideas of how to display my jewelry creations and found the following idea for my earrings:

I had to come up with a way to keep the earrings upright so I decided to use my earring hanging figures as a stopper in the back of each group.

Since I only have a few beadwork rings left over from another craft show, I came up with this idea  for displaying my beadwork rings:

The metal tree is really an earring hanger but seems to work good for my rings. I took this picture so I don't have to go crazy on craft show day trying to remember how I had them displayed .

I posted this bracelet to my gallery, The Beaded Pathway, at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com today. It would make a great Mother's Day gift, a birthday gift or a graduation gift. This bracelet is light-weight and can be worn for a night on the town, to work or for a casual outing.

Barrett Jackson Car Auction

Good Morning,

This past weekend my husband and I went to the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction show and had a great time. Here I am waving to you all. We watched as these gas pumps were auctioned off (minus me, of course).

We have attended the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction for the last three or four years. It is amazing seeing older cars and the great condition they are still in (just like me). :o)

Here is a car that I thought was very different and cool:

After texting my brother these pictures, his remark was: If the revolvers and knife scare you enough at least you have somewhere to relieve yourself. Makes perfect sense.

All kidding aside here is my latest and greatest jewelry creation, Owl Pendant Necklace:

So click on over to www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com and see all the details.

My Temporary Helper

Good Morning,

All company is gone. A little sad, but happy to get the household back to normal (whatever that is?). First, I have to give the house an overall cleaning (UGH!!). But that's life.

I got my grandson to help me with getting some things done for my upcoming McNab Elementary School Craft Show on April 23rd in Broward County, FL. Here is a snapshot of him helping to make price tags:

Since his birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, we went shopping at the Palm Beach Outlets for some clothes and had lunch. Then we went to buy a game for his PS4. It was a relaxing fun day. He had wanted to go to the beach while here but the weather was not cooperating. :o(

Do you have a special occasion coming up? Why not browse around my gallery, The Beaded Pathway, at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com to view my unique, one of a kind, handmade artisan jewelry creations for a gift?

Use coupon - April2016 - for $5.00 off with a minimum $50.00 purchase - expires 4/17/16.

Color Association

Good Morning,

My first group of guests left early Monday morning and are safely at home. Still here and sleeping is my grandson so I thought I would go ahead and blog while it is quiet.

I came across a short list of color associations which I thought might be helpful for you when choosing a piece of jewelry for yourself or someone else:

Color                           Association
Blue                             peace, calmness, loyalty
Green                           nature, healthy
Red                              intense, passionate
Pink                             love, sweetness, romance
Yellow                         curiosity, playfulness, cheeriness
Orange                         comfort, creativity, joy
Gold                             richness, extravagance, tradition
Purple                          royalty, luxury, fantasy
Turquoise                    feminine, lively, sophistication
White                          purity, cleanliness, idealism
Brown                         tribal, primitive, down to earth
Silver                          sleek, glamorous, rich
Gray/Grey                   formal, conservative, balanced
Black                          dominant, dramatic, elegant

I hope you like the color association list and find it helpful.

Since I knew I was going to have company this week, I decided to plan ahead and made a few pieces of artisan jewelry in case I would get a chance to post to my gallery, The Beaded Pathway. Here is one of those pieces and you can view the details at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com
