Household Confusion

Good Morning,

Well the next week is going to be very confusing around my household with company coming in to town.

Today, my stepdaughter and grandsons will be arriving in the late afternoon. Then very late tonight, my daughter and grandson will be arriving. Whoa, I am going to have people sleeping in bedrooms, on couches and on floors. Do I have enough pillows?

The dogs are going to be a little excited with all of these people around for a while then a little put out when they try to find somewhere to hide from the noisy chaos. Can I go with them? It is amazing how even animals get in a daily routine.

Good times will be had by all!

I don't know if I will be able to post while my company is here. So I would appreciate you leaving a comment on what you think of my latest unique, one of a kind, artisan jewelry creation of stackable bracelets? You can view details at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com.

A Psychological Thing

Good Morning,

Well, I am still working on my NEW Etsy shop design. I thought I had everything figured out - oh boy! - was I wrong. My hundredth banner was going to be the final, or so I thought, but I listened to a webinar last night and everything changed.

According to the webinar, my banner was all wrong - toooooo busy! So this morning I have been designing my 101 banner and hopefully it is the REAL FINAL. Also, the webinar said all product costs should end in $.99. It is a psychological thing??!! People can handle $9.99 better than $10.00. Evidently, the penny counts. Here I was rounding things to the nearest dollar. Now that I have my FINAL banner I guess changing prices is next. I know I don't have to do everything that the trainer's say but this is the second trainer that mentioned the $.99 idea.

So onward to www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com to start working on pricing. I might change just a few to see if sales change.

Oh, I forgot to mention that photos have to be expert-looking. I feel I have gotten this part down pretty pat and have been re-doing my photos little by little but April 5th is fast approaching.

Here is my latest artisan creation:

Surrounded By Chaos

Good Morning,

Since I haven't posted for a couple of days, let me bring you all up to date:

Friday, my husband and I went to the casino. We had lunch when we got there and let me tell you the sandwiches were HUGE and mouth-watering delicious. :)

I walked around a little to see which machine would call out to me. Not sure I wanted to play my usual "Quick Hits" game again. Plus I wanted to find a seat where I would not be sitting next to someone who would be blowing smoke in my face which was almost an impossible feat but I found one.

I know there are non-smoking areas but what good are they when they are in the same general space as all the other machines, even if there are machines on the second floor for non-smokers, isn't the same air conditioning used throughout the complex?

At the end of our day, it was a lucky one for my husband; not so lucky for me. :(

Saturday, we walked the dogs around the park pathway below (a lot of pathways in my life), then went home to work around the yard. We pulled a tree down to give the front yard a little more curb appeal; pulled weeds; filled in holes that the dogs dug; and, fertilized the orchids and roses.

Sunday, being Easter, was mostly a relaxing day around the house. My husband decided to smoke an eight pound pork roast for dinner which took about ten hours but the roast was well worth the wait. The meat melted in our mouths. YUMMY!!

While waiting for the roast to cook, I decided to try and clean up my messy beading work table. UGH! The only problem is once I even get near my work table I see a design calling to me as you can see in the picture below.

I don't usually work on one piece at a time. Sometimes I get into one creation and another idea comes to mind so I stop working on the first one and start the second one. My mind works best when surrounded by chaos!

But you can stroll over to my gallery, TheBeadedPathway, at www.thebeadedpathway.etsy.com to view my completed unique, one of a kind, handmade fashion jewelry creations.

Out of Frustration

Good Morning,

Yesterday, I did some metalsmithing in the garage. I cut a heart out of my brass pre-stamped sheet; a flower out of my copper pre-stamped sheet; and something out of a scrap piece of pre-stamped copper. Of course eventually they will all be integrated into a piece of jewelry. So keep an eye out at The Beaded Pathway for the following metal pieces:

Of course, they are still in the grinding, filing and polishing stages. Then maybe soldered onto another piece of metal.

Since Etsy is redesigning their site, which means I have to redesign my banner and pictures, I needed to pound something to get my frustration out. My tolerance is very low when having to do this type of computer work, especially the sizing of the banner and pictures. I've already changed my cover photo every day this week and all goes live April 5th. :(

Thank you, Neighbors

Well yesterday, I had my day planned out: go to the bank and go get dog meds but oh no, no way - our oldest dog, Tee, decided he was going to dig out of the front yard. Not that this was the first time but it has been a long time since he has dug. Being big and long, Tee has to dig deep (almost to Key West) and out about a foot to get under the fence.

Our youngest dog, Sissy, was coming in the house and barking but I did not pay attention since I was getting ready to run my errands. Of course in hind sight, she was trying to let me know Tee was digging out. When I couldn't shut her up, the message sunk in (DUH!!) and I went outside to look for Tee but he was long gone.

So with leash in hand, I wandered up and down our street yelling, "Tee, come here boy", but no sign of him. Tee has a certain route that he likes to roam but most of it is woods and I will not go in there no matter what. Then I decided to go back home and fill Tee's escape hole back-
in.

As I was raking the dirt into the hole, I heard this jingling noise (Tee's tags) and knew Tee was close. I looked up and Tee was running down the street away from me and back into the woods. I called out to him but he only ran faster.

Back to raking the dirt, Tee ran out of the woods, passed me and ran in the opposite direction across the main street. Upset, I got the leash and walked across the main street calling out to Tee. Neighbors heard me calling and came out to help me. They were able to get Tee by his collar until I could reach them. Thank you, Neighbors!

Once I got Tee back home, I had to rinse him down since he went into the mud hole in the woods. Then he and I were exhausted. Tee slept the rest of the day and I didn't feel like running my errands.

There is always tomorrow!

First Day of Spring

Monday, March 21, 2016

Good Morning,

Yesterday was the beginning of Spring. Today it is 55 degrees here in FL. Yeah, Spring! The weather sure has been crazy lately.

My husband and I went to a pet expo show yesterday. People were invited to bring their pets along and I was surprised how many people did bring their animals along. Of course, most of the pets were dogs and quite large ones. There was one display for adopting rats! I wouldn't even stop but the woman said they are pets. I shook my head side to side and one woman said that rats are a mix between dogs and cats. My reply, "no way", woman's reply, "way". Then my husband and I came to a display with big snakes. The keepers had the snakes around their necks and wrists. I kept on walking.

Finally, a display of our dogs favorite treats, "Blue Buffalo". I got some coupons, treats, and a small bag of food for having my picture taken with their blue buffalo:

It was a lot of fun!

On April 23rd, my husband and I will be setting up a jewelry display of TheBeadedPathway's unique, one of a kind, handmade fashion jewelry at McNab Elementary PTA 1st Annual Craft Show in Broward County, FL. If you are in the area stop by, say hello and see my jewelry pieces such as the following Swarovski Crystals Bracelet:

Trip to Hawaii - #2

Friday, March 18, 2016

Looking down at the woman sitting on the floor, the gentleman tapped Marisa on her shoulder. She opened her eyes, stumbled trying to get up and asked the gentleman if he could help her to get her keycard to open the door to her room. Marisa took a second look at the handsome gentleman standing in front of her, "Oh I'm sorry, my name is Marisa and I am having trouble getting into my room."

The handsome, smiling gentleman extended his hand, "Hello, my name is Oliver. Let me see if I can help you with your keycard." He looks at the number on the keycard to see if it matches the room number, "Marisa, if this is your keycard then your room is on the twelfth floor, not the thirteenth."

Marisa takes the keycard, looks at the number on it, then turns around and sees that the numbers does not match. She looks up at Oliver, "Well this is embarrassing. Thank you for your help, Oliver. I guess I was overly tired and got off on the wrong floor. I'll be going, maybe we will see each other again."

Taking Marisa by the arm, Oliver says, "Let me help you to your room, just to be sure your keycard works for you."

Once they get to Marisa's room, she opens the door and an alarm goes off.

With her heart beating rapidly, Marisa sits up, opens her eyes and realizes it was all a dream!

Trip to Hawaii - A Short Story

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Marisa decided to go on vacation to beautiful, exotic Hawaii for a week. One night after dancing the hula in a swaying grass skirt and a few 'make me feel good' drinks, Marisa headed back to her room alone.

Riding the elevator up to the thirteenth floor, Marisa gets off and walks down the hallway to her room, a little tired and ready for a good night's sleep, she fiddles with the stupid keycard trying to get the green light so she can open her door but can't seem to get the damn thing to work. In frustration, tears begin to form in her eyes but Marisa is determined not to cry over a damn keycard! Why won't this thing work? After all you just place the keycard in the slot with the arrow pointing up, the green light is suppose to blink and then you push the door handle down and voila the door opens! But this damn keycard isn't working!

The tears are beginning to slide down Marisa's cheeks but she IS NOT GOING TO CRY. Swaying a little on her feet, she slides down the door to sit on the floor and figure this whole stupid situation out. Why is she crying? Why did they ever stop using normal keys where you just place the key in the lock, turn it and the door opens?

Not hearing the gentleman coming down the hall and Marisa being tired with tears flowing, puts her head against the door, closes her eyes and instantly falls asleep. When the mystery man reaches his hotel room door, he looks down at Marisa and smiles, wondering what this stranger is doing at his hotel room door.

To Be Continued Tomorrow...

Life's Happenings

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Friday night we painted the walls and baseboards in the living room in anticipation of the new furniture. And, on Saturday, our new furniture arrived. I am soooo excited! It looks great! But since we have two dogs that we allow up on the furniture, it has to be covered with old sheets. Doesn't look so great now! Oh well, that's life.

What's everyone doing for St. Patrick's Day? We're not going anywhere but having corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots for dinner.

My mom, Mary, was born on March 17th so this fun holiday always has me in a mellow mood with thoughts of her. She was a very outgoing person that never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. Mom worked in a hardware store for a while; owned a grocery store; worked a food truck; and then came Amway. My aunt once said to me, "Your mother was a good sales person. While she was giving me the sales talk on a product, I would nod my head in agreement, then your mom would write the item on my sales slip. There was no way in hell Mary was going to take the item off!"

I want to show off my latest custom piece of jewelry:

Goodwill Personnel

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Hi, well today I had Goodwill come and pickup my entire living room, except the new carpet of course. The Goodwill employees were very efficient and quick.

I had a little anxiety about the dogs though, knowing they get crazy (barking, running around) when anyone comes over. First choice was putting them on the back screened patio but I was concerned they would run right through the screening. Second choice was putting them in the garage but I was concerned about them running around and knocking things over (extra water containers, golf clubs, gas cans - you know how garages can become the catch-all place).

Well the garage it was. Once the Goodwill personnel got to the house, I put the dogs in the garage, gave them cookies and they barked once or twice so all of my concerns about knocking things over were unfounded!

Once the house was clear and the dogs did all of their sniffing inside and outside the house, I got down to the real business of the day - vacuuming! UGH!!!

The Beginning

March 9, 2016

Hi, my name is Sue and this is my first blog. Hopefully, I will do a good job and you will follow along On The Beaded Pathway Journey. This blog will not always be about my jewelry but will include my thoughts for the day, my day's journey or a short story of what is on my mind.

I usually do my best jewelry creations in the early morning while the house is quiet. But with two dogs in the house it is not quiet for too long. Since every little noise has them wanting to go outside to inspect the surroundings. Of course, I have to jump up from my work table to let them out. That's life!

In 2009, my beading journey started when I found a stack of bead trays while my husband and I were out shopping. I just had to have them! Of course, my husband wanted to know what I was going to do with all those beads - make jewelry I said. And I haven't stopped since.

Here is a picture of my first pair of earrings that I created. They were featured in the Palm Beach Post Newspaper in 2010 in an article about Etsy:
